That Big Ol' Internet Void

I was sitting here thinking about the usual hub-bub about how nothing on Facebook is private, how, when signing up for different apps, games, etc you have to give all these permissions etc, etc. People seem to be really bothered by the fact Facebook can get into your phone, contacts, & now, even your camera. The biggest one of late is the Messenger app Many must be prone to conspiracies b/c it leads them all down that road of being spied on.
As far as permissions go, yes, it does seem rather unfair that you have to okay this & that just to be able to play a silly game or get an insignificant app that you'll most likely be bored of within a month or two. I do know why they want permission to your photos when uaing a photo app of some sort, or access to your contacts when using a calender app or something along that line....in the end i suppose i understand why they ask for all the permissions they do but that doesn't mean i agree with them. I already know that if i want to do certain things out here i'm going to have to give up a certain amount of "privacy". Let's face it....when it comes to Facebook, our lives are literally an open book.

Everyone should know by now that no matter what you put on Facebook & no matter how you put it, it is in that big ol' internet void  forever & ever & ever...you can't take it back...(which is something the younger generation continually baffle me with) they can't seem to rememeber when they post erotic selfies, engage in bullying or harrassment, etc., when they hit that enter button, that's it! Gone into the void ! Most of them don't apply any of the privacy settings to their accounts & any Tom, Dick, or psychopath, can view their entire lives laid out before them in all their unguarded glory.

So if it's something that's really, really, really, important & you don't want to lose control of it...DON'T put it out there! Simple! instead of complaining & worrying about all this privacy invasion stuff think first & twice, click third.

Something else about privacy & our lives being an open book ...once you have an email, Facebook or most any other type of internet account, banking included, your address, phone number, photos of yourself (& depending on how much you post) your immediate family, children, your friends & relatives, have now joined the rest of your life in that big ol' internet void. It's game over anyway....& all of this to make our lives easier is it?

I think I may continue along this line.....so possibly this will be installment Pt. 1

  2. After reflecting on this well written article once again, I realize we came to a crossroads where our online presence needed a revamp and tightening up. Rather than expanding on it, which is the direction I was headed, I made a tough choice to shrink it. Letting go of some hard work, hours of creativity, but now that I've made the choice, I feel lightened from the burden. An online presence isn's for everyone, and in varying degrees can become a task master. Thank you again for such a well written article.

    1. TY for the compliment & I'm glad I could help by whatever way with my words. I know i have mentioned a part 2 to this but with summer & being busy i have yet to write it...but i will. One of these days i may even be regular with my postings! So far it's here & there & with no real following i tend to dismiss it.
